At the Opening Ceremony taking place on Monday evening, participating teams were welcomed by John C. Storjohann, General Secretary of the Swiss Golf Association and the European Golf Association as well as Aldo Allidi, president of GC Ascona. The Championship was then officially declared open by Tommy Basquille from Ireland, member of the EGA Championship Committee.
